Every instrument maker has his own idea, his own aim of a good sound, and each one desenvolves his own techniques to reach it. Normally this takes years and lots of deviations, but it is worthwhile.
Every instrument maker has his own experiences (and sometimes hides them as a secret) and creates his own style, which the beginners try to copy - or learn - but without experience an instrument of high quality only will be constructed with lots of luck: just the using of the tools needs a lot of training.
And thinking of woods: a material with individual characteristics of each piece - the beginner only may guess the possibilities of each of them. Thus an experient instrument maker does not need secrets as he will always be in front with expirience and knowledge, as he should be desenvolving and learning continously.
